this was for you.

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams are something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death."

Heya again, everyone.

We're not sure if you'll get this email, but we wanted to try anyways. All of this was an experience very close to home for a lot of us. Like many of Watercress' other projects, we create from the heart - from what we know. Unlike the many of the others, however, this one was much more about the story itself than about making a classical cohesive narrative.

There is no neat and tidy end. There's no closure. Sometimes shit happens and we're left with the fragments of a broken world. We're stuck rebuilding, wishing so hard that those who are gone could return, if only for a moment. If only just to say that everything will be okay, to remind us that the world is still a beautiful place. One day they were alive, and the next they weren't.

We miss them.

This feeling of loss isn't only about those who are truly gone. While we have lost people like this, this love song reaches out to the others we've lost, too. Those who left our lives, who we've simply lost contact with, those we've turned our backs on and those who've turned their backs on us, those who just had to leave.

In our five years of game development, we've seen hundreds come and go.

It has pained us each and every time. It's an eventuality in development, a necessary part of the human experience. People will come, and people will go.

And we will miss each and every one of them.

So this project is a message to everyone out there that we've lost: we love you, we miss you, we're sorry, and we understand. Thank you everyone who's touched our lives. Thank you everyone who's spent time with us, however fleeting. Our time together has ended, but it was important. We understand. Take care of yourself, and remember that we will always be here if you need a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to talk to.

As someone we looked up to once said…

"Keep moving forward."
